Donatella Casirola Bocchieri
Art biography in Extenso
Donatella Casirola Bocchieri is a representational painter. She was born and raised in Italy, and has been an adopted New Jerseyan for almost three decades.
After studying architectural drawing with Professor G. Diegoli (an alumnus of the Academy of Fine Arts Brera, Milan, Italy,) Donatella trained in dry media and then oil painting under Maestro E. Carboni, in Italy. She attended the atelier of Maestro Carboni for ten years, studying “a bottega” (literally, “in the workshop”, according to the tradition of the old Italian Masters.
Through E. Carboni, who studied with E. and M. Acerbi and with A. Oberto (their work is in the Museum of the City of Pavia, Italy), she was influenced by the later generation of Impressionists and Colorists of the Lombard School, which reflects in her style of painting.
In the U.S., Donatella pursued continuing art education in both pastel, with Christina DeBarry, president emerita of the Pastel Society of America, New York (2002-2006), and in oils, with Brett Gamache, Cambridge Studio School, Cambridge, MA (2015-2019.) and keeps joyfully painting (and drawing) both in the studio and en plein-air.
